CONSUS ROMANIA SA: the first participant registered to the Trading Platform for Emission Certificates

On June 1, 2010 OPCOM SA launched the Trading Platform for Emission Certificates. This platform is meant to provide the market participants who are in deficit concerning their reporting obligations with the possibility to meet the requirements of holding a certain number of certificates, according to the level of emissions, by purchasing certificates. At the same time, the platform offers market participants who are in excess compared to their reporting obligations the opportunity to benefit from the surplus of certificates.

The first participant registered on the Trading Platform for Emission Certificates is Consus Romania SA, member of Consus Group, leader in trading services for emission certificates and member of the Weather Risk Management Association (WRMA). Consus Group offers consultancy and trading services within the EU-ETS Scheme and the Kyoto Protocol mechanisms, the group’s members being active in France, Poland and Romania.

OPCOM SA is the Romanian wholesale power market operator. In order to facilitate the spot and the forward trading of electricity, OPCOM SA operates the day-ahead market and the centralized markets for bilateral contracts. Moreover, the trading of environmental instruments is supported by organizing the Centralized Market for Green Certificates and the Trading Platform for Emission Certificates.
