Czech power incumbent CEZ has submitted a bid to modernize and potentially expand a 535 MW coal-fired power plant in Galati, Romania, the company said in a statement on Thursday (28th June). CEZ has filed prequalification documents in the tender organised by the plant’s owner, Romania state-owned electricity producer Termoelectrica. On Tuesday (26th June) CEZ said it had entered a tender to build a 400-500 MW generation unit at the Borzesti power plant in Romania, also owned by Termoelectrica. In 2005, CEZ bought a 24.6% stake in Romania’s largest electricity distributor Electrica Oltenia, which supplies 1.37 million customers, from the Romanian government. Last year, CEZ lost out to Italy’s in a bid to acquire a 67.5% stake in Romania distribution company Electrica Muntenia Sud. (THE HEREN REPORTS - EDEM 11124 / 28 June 2007) |
