| SATU MARE (MEDIAFAX) – Romania and Hungary will interconnect the electricity networks this year, until the 15th of December, according to the economic cooperation protocol signed on Thursday between the two countries in Satu Mare. On Thursday, during a press conference, the Minister for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, Commerce, Tourism and Liberal Professions, Ovidiu Silaghi, who led the Romanian delegation, declared that the projects for electricity and gas networks interconnection, for the creation of a hydrocarbons network, for the collaboration in the storage of crude oil and oil products, as well as for the cooperation in the building of the Nabucco gas pipeline, are part of the energy protocol. In the energy field, according to the text of the protocol, it has been decided to continue the interconnection project through the 400 kV power line Oradea – Bekescsaba, and, in the first stage, the finalisation of the 400 kV interconnection aerial power line Arad – Nadab – Bekescsaba. The specialists of the two parties estimate that this line shall be put into operation before the 15th of December, and the second stage will include the finalisation of the 400 kV aerial power line Nadab – Oradea. The quoted source specifies that the Romanian and Hungarian TSOs (the Transmission System Operators) and the power exchanges have signed a letter of intent in order to support the necessary activities for the establishment of an organised market framework in Hungary, as a precondition for the implicit allocations on the interconnections between Romania and Hungary. On this occasion, the Romanian party has requested the Hungarian party to fasten the formalities for the signing of the contract between the two power exchanges. Moreover, the mixed intergovernmental Romanian-Hungarian Commission for economic cooperation has decided to interconnect the gas transmission systems of Romania and Hungary, on the line Szeged – Nadlac – Arad. On the other hand, the Hungarian party has requested support form the Romanian party, in order to establish the company NETS Study Co., meant to analyse the feasibility of the NETS project for the natural gas regional transmission. The two parties have also decided to cooperate for the set up of the Nabucco gas pipeline, as the mixed intergovernmental Commission supports the increase of the collaboration between the governmental experts for the conclusion of the governmental agreements that will represent the basis of the development of the project. Furthermore, Hungary has requested Romania to analyse the possibility of signing an intergovernmental agreement concerning the establishment, operation, exploitation and maintenance of the cross-border objectives. The Hungarian Minister of Economy and National Development, Gordon Bajnai, and the Minister for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, Commerce, Tourism and Liberal Professions, Ovidiu Silaghi, signed, on Thursday, in Satu Mare, the new protocol for the economic cooperation between the two countries, protocol that will form the working basis of the meeting between the two governments, planned to be held on the 21st of October, in Szeged. The text of the protocol has been elaborated during the works of the third session of the mixed intergovernmental Romanian-Hungarian Commission for economic cooperation held on Wednesday and Thursday in Satu Mare.
