EDP Renewables, part of Portuguese incumbent utility EDP, announced on Friday (24th October) that it has acquired an 85% stake in Renovatio Power and Cernavoda Power, two renewables companies in Romania. The companies own several wind projects in Romania totalling 736 MW of capacity in different stages of maturity, with more than half in the proposal phase. The companies own several completed wind farms with a capacity of 297 MW and 440 MW worth of facilities classified as prospective. The acquisition will improve EDP’s already burgeoning portfolio of renewables projects as it currently has more than 27,100 MW of wind assets.
