Romanian exchange OPCOM’s Day-Ahead market volumes hit new year-on-year highs in July, with 635.8GWh of power contracted. This was up 61% from the same period last year, and a 3% rise month on month. The hourly average volume of 854.6MWh was little changed from June’s 855.1MWh. The monthly average price rose 10% month on month to �36.32/MWh, but the euro price was again down on the price over the same period last year, by around a third. In July, the Day-ahead market volumes were 15.5% of forecast consumption, 0.7 percentage points lower than June. However, the exchange stated that almost 40% of Romania’s forecast consumption was traded on OPCOM, as volumes delivered for July on the forward power auction market were 23.4% of forecast consumption.
