Romanian power consumption grew by 4.2% in the first nine months of 2010 compared with the same period last year, according to figures released by the country`s statistics board on Friday (5th November).
Consumption stood at 37.5TWh from January and September, but exports dropped by 35.1% to 0.8TWh over the same period. Last year, power consumption fell 8.2% on 2008.
Coal and nuclear production fell 7.9% and 2.3% year on year in the January-September period, while hydro production went up by 22.7%.
Romania is still reeling from the effects of deep recession. Its GDP is expected to drop by 1.8% this year.
