Czech incumbent ČEZ has sold its 9.15% stake in EnergoNuclear, the consortium set up to build units 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant, the company confirmed on Tuesday (4th January).
The incumbent sold the shares to Romania`s Nuclearelectrica, the majority shareholder and operator of the existing 1.4GW units 1 and 2, for the nominal value of New Lei 7.4m (€1.7m).
ČEZ announced its decision to offload its 9.15% stake in EnergoNuclear last year, insisting that it would concentrate on the domestic power market (see EDEM 22 September 2010).
The consortium also includes Enel, GDF SUEZ and RWE Power, each holding a 9.15% stake, while Iberdrola and steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal both hold 6.2%. The two 1.4GW units are expected to become operational by 2017.
