Romanian market focus shifted towards short-term contracts in 2010 because economic conditions made consumption trends too uncertain, local power exchange Opcom said on Friday (21st January).
According to the exchange, the average annual Day-ahead trading volume on Romania`s spot market reached 992.7MWh/hour in 2010, more than doubling from the 2005 average of 388.9MWh/hour. This represents a market share of 16.56% of estimated domestic demand for 2010. However, the exchange did not specify year-on-year growth or volumes.
The weighted average price was assessed at New Lei 156.31/MWh (€37.08/MWh), almost level with last year`s New Lei 155.35/MWh.
Out of the 106 participants registered at the market, 81 submitted bids, which led to hourly transactions with volumes between 266-1,591MWh/hour.
