OPCOM Role
According to the provisions of the primary and secondary legislation in force, the company Operatorul Pietei de Energie Electrica si Gaze Naturale “OPCOM” S.A. fulfills the role of the electricity market administrator, providing an organized, viable and efficient framework for the commercial trades’ deployment on the wholesale electricity market and performs administration activities of the centralized markets in the natural gas sector, complying with the consistency, correctness, impartiality, independence, equidistance, transparency and non-discrimination conditions.
The main activities performed by OPCOM according to the primary and secondary legislation in force:
- Performs organization and administration activities of the centralized electricity markets;
- Performs the Settlement Administrator function by performing the settlement operations for Day-Ahead Market and Intraday Market, respectively the setting of the payment obligations/rights of collection for the Balancing Market and the setting of the quantity and value of the imbalances for the Balancing Responsible Parties;
- Performs the function of organizer and administrator of the Green Certificates Market;
- Performs the function of the greenhouse gases Emission Certificates Trading Platform administrator;
- Performs the administration activity of the centralized markets in the natural gas sector;
- The activity of the administered markets’ surveillance;
- Collects and publishes the statistical market data, according to the provisions of the Energy Law.
