    August 2007 is the consolidation period for the positive results of trading of the four OPCOM products offered to the market participants. The share of spot trades was maintained by the market at a high level, on the basis of CMBC trades, the weight of the volumes in delivery in the year 2007 increased, as well as, the number of forward contracts traded.

    Through the trading sessions organised by OPCOM, CMGC continues to accomplish the role of stimulation of the investments in the power generation using renewable energy sources.

    Day Ahead Market

    In August, on an average, were traded 756 MWh/h, at the average price of 181.51 lei/MWh (56.45 euro/MWh). Trades were concluded in all hourly intervals of this month. The hourly traded volumes varied between 360 and 1,108 MWh/h.

    • The volume traded in August 2007 doubled related to August 2006, this being the most important increase of the monthly traded volume related to last year.

    • Having a constant interest for trading, expressed by the number of participants that submitted offers, related to July 2007, the energy volume traded in August on DAM and the corresponding market share were almost constant, the average price of 181.51 lei/MWh (56.45 euro/MWh) decreasing with almost 14%.

    • In the first eight months of the current year, on an average, were traded 578 MWh/h, with 34.45% more than last year, in the same period, at the average price of 164.35 lei/MWh (50.10 euro/MWh).

    Centralized Market for Bilateral Contracts concluded by public auction

    On CMBC were submitted 48 buying offers and one selling offer, totalizing 43 TWh. The opening price for the selling offer was 180 lei/MWh, and the trading price was 186 lei/MWh. The buying offers in the price range of 148-178 lei/MWh were not traded. On CMBC, the energy quantity traded for delivery in August corresponded to 11.34% from the forecasted national consumption, at a weighted price of 170.02 lei/MWh.

    Centralized Market for Bilateral Contracts with Continuous Negotiation

    On CMBC-CN (forward) were traded 10 contracts with base load delivery, at an average price of 184.98 lei/MWh. The contracts, totalizing 7,200 MWh and having the delivery date in September were concluded by two participants.

    Centralized Market for Green Certificates

    After the August auction, on CMGC were traded 1,008 certificates, at the average price of 142.72 lei/certificate.

    • Related to the number of green certificates issued for 2007, the number of the green certificates traded in March–August on CMGC in order to fulfil the mandatory quota for this year is almost 36%.

    The continuous ascending trend of the energy trades from August on DAM, CMBC and CMBC–CN creates the prerequisite for establishing a transparent and accessible way to the public of the price for over 25% of energy consumption in 2007.
