OPCOM, the Romanian Power Market Operator, announces the contracts for 2008

(Bucharest, 15th October 2007) During the third operational year, starting January 25, 2007, the volume traded on the OPCOM trading platform for bilateral contracts traded through public auctions, reached 8.21 TWh, covering 15.53% of the estimated national consumption.

Out of a total number of 132 contracts concluded since the date mentioned above, 75 contracts have delivery periods in 2008, subsequently:

During the following period, 18 trading sessions are scheduled on the OPCOM platforms: 8 selling auctions and 10 buying auctions. The delivery periods of these contracts concern mainly the period 01.01.2008 – 31.12.2008. Moreover, from the current experience, we are able to consider that the end of the year shall be a moment of intensified activity on the bilateral contracts platform.
Furthermore, for the trading of forward contracts, on the OPCOM electronic platform there have been listed the standard offers inclusively for 2009 and, respectively, for all the quarters (1÷4) of 2009. This listing, as well as all the centralized markets managed by OPCOM, aim to the determination of a reference price that shall support the building and strengthening of a competitive environment, transparent and correct.
