The Quarterly Report on European Electricity Markets

The updated version of the European Commission General Directorate for Transport and Energy web-site is inviting the visitors to use the welcomed services of the Market Observatory for Energy

Including oil, coal and electricity sections, the Market Observatory acts under the logo: “WATCHING CLOSER, SEEING CLEARER, LOOKING FURTHER

As the promotional presentation is stating,

“The observatory watches closely issues such as demand and supply developments, import, export and trade volumes, and prices on physical and financial markets.

    and going further,

“The observatory supports the policy agenda of the European Union and analyses developments on energy markets with a view to decisions to be taken.

Such analysis is necessary to have a clearer view of energy markets and is particularly important in times of tight supply and high energy prices. It is carried out in close cooperation with institutional and international partners, Member States, market players, academia and other stakeholders.”

As a component of its activity, The Energy Market Observatory is providing the series of Quarterly Reports on European Electricity Markets which “analyzes the main drivers behind price and volume evolutions, on the electricity markets across Europe.” “It also follows closely the interactions between countries and regions because the maturing of the internal market is expected to spur commercial cross border transactions.”

Again demonstrating the Romanian electricity market development, since the third quarter of 2008 (second issue), the report is including Romania and OPCOM DAM as part of the analyses.

The Quarterly Report on European Electricity Markets is available here.
