    OPCOM – A new product placed at the market participants’ disposal - Centralized Market for Universal Service

    According to the provisions of regulatory framework approved by ANRE, on the 16th and 17th of March 2015 were conducted the rounds of the first trading session organized for the acquisition of the electricity to cover the electricity consumption of the final clients served in universal service regime, billed at competitive market tariff component.

    During the auction session selling offers were formulated for two products, one product for the base load delivery and one product for peak load delivery between 08:00 – 24:00, for the delivery period between 01.04 – 30.06.2015, respectively the 2nd quarter of 2015.

    By the means of CMUS trading mechanism, the corresponding trades were concluded to cover the consumption of 1,059,240 MWh for base load delivery and respectively the consumption of 244,608 MWh for delivery between the aforementioned peak hours.

    The auction session closing prices were set at 165.00 Lei/MWh (37.17 Euro/MWh) for the electricity traded for base load delivery and respectively 178.00 Lei/MWh (40.10 Euro/MWh) for the electricity traded for delivery between the aforementioned peak hours. The starting prices for the two traded products were 201.00 Lei/MWh (45,28 Euro/MWh) for the product with base load delivery and respectively 230.00 lei/MWh (51.81 Euro/MWh) for the product with delivery between the aforementioned peak hours.

    During the 13 descending price rounds unfolded within the auction session, there was a 17.91% decrease in the price of the product with base load delivery and respectively a decrease of 22.61% in the price of the product with delivery between the aforementioned peak hours.

    The total value of the transactions concluded in the first simultaneous auction session with decreasing price conducted on CMUS is 218,314,824.00 Lei (49,182,190.18 Euro).

    There were seven companies to participate at the auction session with selling offers for the base load delivery product and six companies for the product with delivery between the aforementioned peak hours.

    The auction session was conducted through the trading platform designed and implemented within OPCOM SA in strict accordance with the requirements of Regulation concerning the organization and functioning of the simultaneous auctions with decreasing price on the Centralized Market for Universal Service, approved by ANRE Order no. 65/22.07.2014.
