    2012-08-03
Romania`s 860MW Brazi combined cycle gas turbine plant has started producing electricity, owner Petrom said on Thursday (2nd August).
The plant`s commissioning is more than six months behind schedule. Earlier this year, the company blamed undisclosed "external factors" for the delay (see EDEM/EGSM 22 February 2012).
Brazi is the largest privately-built power plant in Romania in the last 20 years, and could provide 8-9% of the country`s power supply, the company said in a statement.
Petrom is majority-owned by Austrian oil and gas company OMV.
