One of the world`s largest wind energy companies is to receive a €50m loan to support construction of two wind farms in Romania, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Friday (14th December). The loan will be awarded to VS Wind, which is majority owned by Portuguese EDP Renováveis (EDPR), to support construction of the 24MW Vutcani and the 33MW Sarichioi wind farms. EBRD will provide up to €25m and the remainder will come from commercial banks. EBRD has financed three projects with EDPR in Romania, but involvement in the Vutcani wind farm will be the first time the bank has financed a project in the Moldova region of Romania.
