  • ©THE HEREN REPORTS - Romania announces plans for privatising distribution units
    2010-04-06
Romania has announced plans to privatise its remaining three power distribution units on Tuesday (3rd October), selling a 42% stake in each unit to a strategic investor. According to a statement from the ministry of economy and commerce, the buyer will simultaneously raise its stake to 51% with a capital injection. However, no timeframe for the sale was given. Five of Romania’s eight power distribution companies are already privatised, with Enel winning the tender for a 67.5% stake in Electrica Muntenia Sud at the beginning of June. The listing of Transelectrica, Romania’s transmission system operator, at the end of August was regarded as a great success, with its market capitalisation doubling within days of listing.
