| Romanian exchange Opcom’s Day-Ahead market volumes hit new year-on-year highs in August, with 495.1GWh of power contracted. This represents a 15.5% increase from August 2008. Compared to the previous month, however, the total volume of spot trade fell by 140.7GWh. The hourly average volume of 665.4MWh was also lower than the previous month, which was 854.6MWh in July. The monthly average price decreased compared to August 2008 to �36.53/MWh, although this was almost flat to the average price in July 2009. Spot trades were in a range of �28–72/MWh over the month.
