Iberdrola Renovables, the Spanish utility’s green energy subsidiary, has opened an office in Romania, to support the 700MW of installed wind capacity that it describes as being at “an advanced administrative stage” in the country. Another 900MW of capacity is in the pipeline. The projects are spread across the Dobrogea region, in eastern Romania, connected to the grid by a new station at Tariverde. The projects are part of a joint venture with Romanian company Eolica Dobrogea, which is handling planning and permission, while Iberdrola Renovables will build and operate the plants. The Iberdrola subsidiary also has wind capacity in Poland, Hungary, Estonia and Bulgaria. (THE ICIS HEREN REPORTS - EDEM 13 216 / 6 November 2009)
