    Romanian transmission system operator (TSO) Transelectrica has unveiled �100m investments for next year. These include plans to uppgrade plants and extend transimission cables across the country. The revamp will include extending interconnection capacity with Serbia on the Resita-Pancevo transmission line, rehabilitating transformer stations, and the development of a subsea cable between Romania and Turkey. The grid operator also plans to complete a transformer station connecting to 600 MW of wind generation at Tariverde, in the southeast, planned to be in operation by the end of 2010. The station has a planned capacity of 1.2GW and could benefit companies such as Iberdrola, which is looking to build a wind farm in the area. The budget earmarked for this year’s investments was �110m. The state-owend company manages and operates 78 transformers, with a total capacity of 35 GW and 8,900 km of cables.
