Romanian electricity market operator Opcom, together with national stock exchange BVB and its clearing house, CCB, are to launch an electricity derivatives market, Opcom announced on Wednesday (29th September).
The aim of the agreement is to ensure best market conditions for the participants in a bid to hedge against price volatility.
Romania`s spot market, which is operated by Opcom and is the highest-priced spot market in Eastern Europe, backs the launch and will provide the required spot prices.
The move was supported by the country`s ministry of economy, commerce and business environment.
