    2010-11-17
Romania has signed an agreement to develop smart grid networks, a move which could help the country reshape its long-term investment strategy, the government said on Wednesday (17th November). Bucharest is reviewing its energy strategy to 2035 to take into consideration a drop in consumption triggered by the recession. The ministry stated that introduction of smart grids would help the country to reduce costs, save energy and boost the transparency of all services involved in the power sector. “We have to take in consideration longterm consumption levels, costs, and the impact of renewables and new generation units on the wider grid,” said Claudiu Stafie, state secretary from the economy ministry.
