The volume of electricity traded in January on Romanian power exchange Opcom increased by 8% on the same period last year, according to figures provided by the platform.
Transactions concluded on Opcom`s Day-ahead market and the bilateral contracts markets with delivery in January 2011 combined to total 1.16TWh, covering about 23% of Romania`s estimated electricity demand for the month.
Spot prices hovered around the New Lei 188.05 lei/MWh (€44.09/MWh) level, around 15% below the European average, estimated at €52/MWh.
