  • Bulgaria and Romania agree to develop Danube hydroelectricity

    Bulgaria and Romania are planning a joint project to construct hydro power plants on the Danube River, the Bulgarian energy ministry announced on Wednesday (12th October). Bulgaria`s energy minister Traycho Traykov and his Romanian counterpart Ion Ariton were due to sign a memorandum of understanding at a meeting in Bucharest on Wednesday, according to the statement. The ministers will also discuss the building of hydro facilities on the Danube. No details on capacity, the number of projects and price have yet been revealed. Additionally, the two countries will agree to cooperate on market integration and consider developing additional interconnection capacity, according to a release from the Romanian energy ministry.
